Grant
Application/Information for Tom Cat Blitz Grants
These grants will provide medical supplies and per diem vet and vet tech
pay for one male cat neuterathon. You do not have to be a 501(c)3 organization
to apply for a grant. You may apply as an individual if you do not have
a formal organization (yet). Grant criteria are:
1. Submit your county stats to SpaySC on Excel spreadsheet (available
by email request to info@spaysc.org).
It is important to have a benchmark and a basic knowledge of the “state
of your county.”
2. Attend/participate in an Animal Allies neuterathon in Spartanburg.
See one firsthand; learn how to run one.
3. Attend a SPAYSC Conference Click here for
conference information].
4. Get agreement with a local veterinarian who will serve as an “emergency
care clinic” should any of the neuterathon cats have complications.
This is a legal issue that is nonnegotiable. We can provide help to you
with the discussions you should have. The vet does not need to be involved
in the neuterathon, but can be if he/she chooses.
5. Identify an appropriate site for the neuterathon in your county, and
secure any permissions/permits needed. A local vet who would like to participate
would be a great resolution for this, but other solutions are possible.
Again, we will consult with you on what type of site may be appropriate
if a vet clinic is not available to you.
6. Commit to send in a post-event report with 14 days of the neuterathon.
We recommend that, in addition to these criteria, you be prepared to write
a press release to your local paper, create posters and handouts for marketing,
consider having a phone conversation or meeting with your mayor or local
councilperson to share the good news and gain their support, and in the
spirit of collaborative networking, send a few volunteers to a neuterathon
that will be held as a result of the Tom Cat Blitz grants in another county!
All these things will be coached and discussed during this grant application
process, we will give you all the help you'll need to be successful!
We will secure a vet for you, provide all the training from marketing
to implementation, Animal Allies staff will attend all the Tom Cat Blitz
neuterathons, and will probably bring along several trained volunteers.
We will bring all the medical supplies. You will supply the site, the
permissions, the marketing, the emergency vet backup, and volunteers (plan
on one volunteer for every 10 cats). We will try for a 100-cat neuterathon
as a standard.
